Ffernol Valley
On the easier gradients of the Ffernol Valley trains can pick up speed on the well-fettled track which passes through the open and well cared for farmland in the valley. The sharp-eyed visitor may spot the occasional red kite high above the valley or, closer to hand, a buzzard may be seen to take flight from a tree or post, they have long since learned that a passing train will flush out small animals. It is also not unknown to see a barn owl hunting by day, floating like a ghost over the fields. Towards the end of this 'racing ground' is a bridge, carrying the line over the Afon Ffernol and shortly after, the old packhorse and drover's road is crossed.
Return down the line, return to the map or continue up the line.
